🌷Chapter 1-90

When Chu Zichen deliberately mentioned that Gu Lingfeng would come to watch him record the show, Su Ning—who had worked as Gu Lingfeng’s personal assistant for over four years and knew his boss extremely well—didn’t expose the lie out of politeness.

Given Gu Lingfeng’s always-work-comes-first attitude, taking a little time to coax his lover might be considered romantic, but deliberately clearing his schedule to accompany someone? That would only happen if the sun rose in the west—more likely to happen than Huayu Entertainment going bankrupt.

Su Ning was honestly quite surprised. After all, Chu Zichen was a public figure. Everyone knew how these sugar daddy arrangements worked—nobody spelled it out in public. But Chu Zichen acted like he couldn’t wait for the world to know, which was… a bit hard to comprehend.

Hmm… Looks like the boss has some preferences he hasn’t fully figured out yet.

Su Ning casually mused to himself, but didn’t dwell on it. He had completed the task of delivering the gift to coax the boss’s little lover, and now he was ready to make his exit.

Unexpectedly, Chu Zichen wouldn’t let him leave.

“Hey, you—” Chu Zichen said, full of arrogance and without even remembering Su Ning’s name. “I’m about to go record, but this outfit you brought is unwearable. Tell President Gu to send me another set, immediately.”

Su Ning had already overheard bits of the outfit issue at the door. He hadn’t expected to get dragged into the mess himself. Glancing to the side, he saw a light gray suit hanging on the rack. It was clearly haute couture—stylish and tailored to fit Chu Zichen’s slim frame. No matter how you looked at it, it didn’t scream “beggar.”

If beggars dressed like this, everyone would want to be one.

The stylist nearby offered him a bitter smile behind Chu Zichen’s back.

In truth, this was already one of the best brands they could get their hands on. Chu Zichen had been perfectly fine with the brand until he actually saw the clothes—after that, he insisted they were unwearable and demanded a replacement.

The problem was, with the show about to start, where on earth were they supposed to find another set?

Chu Zichen threw a massive tantrum, leaving the entire dressing room silent. The stylist, upon hearing that Su Ning was Gu Lingfeng’s assistant, shot him a pleading look.

“Mr. Su, could you…”

Chu Zichen grew impatient when Su Ning didn’t act right away. He frowned and snapped, “Why are you still standing there? Aren’t you an assistant? Just do what I say.”

Su Ning kept his polite smile and tried to reason with him. “Mr. Chu, the show starts in less than an hour. Even if we find another suit, there might not be enough time to get it here.”

“Then let them wait. I’m not going on wearing this thing!”

Because of the outfit drama, Chu Zichen hadn’t even finished his makeup. Everyone was tiptoeing around, trying to placate him. Even the show’s director came to persuade him, offering to let him pick something from their wardrobe backup. But Chu Zichen refused, saying he wouldn’t wear leftovers and only wore custom-made pieces—or else his skin would break out in rashes.

Everyone in the room: “…”

While the others continued coaxing Chu Zichen, Su Ning slipped away to a corner and made a call. He quickly arranged to borrow a new suit from a luxury brand. Since he managed Gu Lingfeng’s wardrobe and frequently handled wardrobe emergencies—including buying clothes for Gu Lingfeng’s lovers—he had solid connections. Getting a rush outfit? Not a problem.

Still, time was tight.

In the end, Su Ning had to speed and run a few red lights to pick it up. When he returned and showed it to Chu Zichen, the man was finally satisfied enough to sit down for makeup. But the whole ordeal had delayed the schedule by over half an hour.

Chu Zichen thought he’d just had a diva moment and made everyone dance to his tune. What he didn’t know was that as soon as filming ended, the show’s director, host, and almost everyone involved deleted his contact info. Management at the station even said they’d never invite someone like him again.

By the time Su Ning got home, it was already dark. He ate a quick dinner, took a shower, and lay in bed checking his phone—no messages from Gu Lingfeng.

Unless there was a work issue or something that needed handling with one of his lovers, Gu Lingfeng never contacted him.

Su Ning gave a self-deprecating chuckle, tossed his phone onto the nightstand, rolled over, and went to sleep.

Gu Lingfeng was only away for one day. The next day, he returned—not to the villa, but straight to the office. It wasn’t until after work that he had Su Ning pick him up.

Through the rearview mirror, Su Ning caught a glimpse of the man in the backseat, eyes closed, resting, looking faintly tired. Su Ning couldn’t help but think to himself that being a big boss wasn’t easy either. For anyone, money didn’t come without effort.

Then, suddenly, the man opened his eyes and looked his way. “What is it?”

Su Ning quickly looked away and shook his head. “Nothing.” After a moment of hesitation, he asked, “President Gu, aren’t you going to see Mr. Chu tonight?”

Back from a business trip—absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Especially when Chu Zichen had already thrown a fit during the trip. Now that everything was done, wouldn’t it be the perfect time to go coax his little lover?

Su Ning didn’t say any of this aloud, but Gu Lingfeng seemed to read his mind. He rubbed his temples. “What did he do?”

Su Ning hesitated. If he told the whole story, it would sound like tattling. Whether it was throwing tantrums or making things difficult, Gu Lingfeng might just see it as his lover being cute or playing hard to get.

He was just the assistant. Best to focus on his job.

After a brief pause, he smiled and said, “Nothing much. Just that Mr. Chu seemed eager to see you when I delivered your gift.”

Gu Lingfeng gave Su Ning a flat look but said nothing.

Later, back at the villa, Su Ning was still wondering if Chu Zichen would kick up more trouble because Gu Lingfeng hadn’t gone to see him. If that happened, guess who’d have to put out the fire again? Meanwhile, the boss himself was calm as ever—as if Su Ning were more anxious than the person involved.

Before bed, Su Ning lounged in bed, planning to scroll on his phone for a bit. Gu Lingfeng came out of the shower and saw him lying there, phone in hand, wearing his loose pajamas with a relaxed, smiling expression—like someone without a care in the world.

The boss stood silently by the bed, unmoving, watching him with amusement.

Su Ning, sensing the gaze, looked up and met Gu Lingfeng’s cool, unreadable stare. Thinking he was being told off for playing with his phone before bed, Su Ning quickly got up and said, “I’ll go to the living room. Don’t want to disturb you.”

But before he could get out of bed, a strong arm wrapped around his waist and pulled him back.

The man’s heavy body pressed down, and Su Ning froze for a second in surprise…
