AD Chapter 4
When Su Ning entered the living room dragging his suitcase, Gu Lingfeng was already sitting on the sofa, legs crossed, one hand resting on his knee, looking relaxed. He didn’t show much of a reaction when he saw Su Ning come in.
"President Gu."
Su Ning stopped in front of him and greeted him cautiously.
It was Su Ning’s first time coming to this villa. Though Gu Lingfeng kept several lovers, he never brought them home. Su Ning used to be Fan Xin’s personal assistant, so naturally, he never had the chance to see where the boss's benefactor lived.
Gu Lingfeng glanced at the suitcase beside Su Ning’s feet, maintained his position, and said calmly, “Your room is on the first floor. It’s already been tidied up. Go put your things down and get settled.”
He paused briefly, then added, “If there’s anything missing, make a list—someone will get it for you.”
Seeing that Gu Lingfeng had no intention of leading the way and there was no one else in the villa—his assistant had left right after dropping him off—Su Ning felt quite troubled.
The villa was huge, and it was his first time there. How would he know where his room was? But after a moment of standing awkwardly under Gu Lingfeng’s quiet gaze, Su Ning felt a subtle pressure. Afraid that any more delay would annoy Gu Lingfeng, he had no choice but to search on his own.
Turning a corner, Su Ning saw a door left ajar. His eyes lit up, and he quickly wheeled his suitcase over—sure enough, it was a neatly arranged guest room. It seemed that this was the one prepared for him.
Su Ning secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Having a separate room probably meant that being a “personal assistant” really was just that.
Before coming, he had been worried about whether being Gu Lingfeng’s personal assistant—after what happened that one night—meant he would have to "attend to" the boss’s needs in bed as well. That idea had made him uneasy.
But it seemed he had been overthinking it.
Su Ning let out a light laugh at himself. Why would Gu Lingfeng, with all the stunning actors and actresses at his disposal, choose someone like him—a mere assistant?
Wishful thinking.
He hadn’t brought much—just a few changes of clothes. Worried that Gu Lingfeng would be impatient if he took too long, he hurriedly shoved his clothes into the closet and rushed back to the living room.
Gu Lingfeng was still on the sofa, talking on the phone. Su Ning paused, unsure whether to approach.
As if he had eyes in the back of his head, Gu Lingfeng glanced at him and quickly ended the call after saying a few short words.
“President Gu, I’ve finished settling in. Is there anything you need me to do?” Su Ning quickly got into work mode. Though he had changed bosses, the pay was higher than before—he had to perform even better.
Gu Lingfeng glanced at him briefly and said, “Sit down. There’s a contract on the table—take a look.”
Su Ning looked and indeed saw a document on the table. He obediently sat down and opened it.
—It was probably the employment contract for his role as personal assistant.
Just as he began reading through it, Gu Lingfeng’s emotionless voice came again,
“This is a contract hiring you as my private assistant. Read it and sign.”
Su Ning nodded. Of course the big boss would be this thorough. But as he continued reading, he gradually froze, blinking multiple times in disbelief.
This wasn’t just a personal assistant contract—it also included duties as the boss’s bed companion. In addition to managing the boss’s daily life, he was expected to fulfill the boss’s needs. At any time. No objections allowed. The contract was for five years, with generous compensation—but the penalty for breaching it was astronomical.
This contract… completely opened Su Ning’s eyes.
He blinked, unsure what kind of expression to make.
So he hadn’t just changed bosses—he now had a sugar daddy? Was he really going to be Gu Lingfeng’s assistant and lover?
No—he couldn’t get ahead of himself. It was arrogant to assume he was good enough to be the boss’s lover.
Even though the contract clearly stated “unconditional obedience,” the main responsibility was still to manage the boss’s personal life—including handling matters related to Gu Lingfeng’s actual lovers.
Su Ning had been staring at the contract for a while when Gu Lingfeng tapped the table lightly, his gaze drifting over. He hadn’t said anything, but the pressure was palpable.
“President Gu—” Su Ning licked his lips, his voice a little dry. He glanced at the contract, then at Gu Lingfeng across from him, unsure what to say.
“Is there a problem?” Gu Lingfeng asked flatly.
Of course there was a problem—a big one!
Su Ning frowned slightly, conflicted and speechless. It wasn’t that he was completely against sleeping with Gu Lingfeng—or not entirely—but the situation was so unexpected that he didn’t know how to handle it.
Gu Lingfeng picked up the pen, flipped to the last page of the contract, crossed out a number, and wrote a new figure beneath it.
“This is your base salary. Benefits are separate.”
Su Ning stared at the number, unable to look away.
This kind of pay—he’d never seen it before. If he could hold out a few years, he could probably open his own little shop.
“If there’s no issue, sign.” Gu Lingfeng handed him the pen.
Su Ning took it on reflex, stunned for a moment. Under Gu Lingfeng’s gaze, he finally signed his name.
Gu Lingfeng loosened his collar with one hand, stood up from the sofa, glanced at Su Ning, then walked upstairs. Su Ning sat there in a daze, feeling like he had just sold himself, still not quite processing what had just happened.
Gu Lingfeng stopped before going upstairs, turned, and frowned slightly.
“Come here.”
Su Ning snapped back to reality. Thinking there was something Gu Lingfeng needed him to do, he quickly followed.
He trailed behind Gu Lingfeng into what was clearly the master bedroom. Gu Lingfeng didn’t say a word, simply took off his clothes and walked into the bathroom.
Su Ning stood there, staring at the clothes strewn on the carpet, blinking slowly—
—Was this… just laundry duty?
