AD Chapter 13
After Gu Lingfeng gave Chu Zichen the cold shoulder for a while, Chu Zichen completely panicked. Not only was he anxious, but so was his agent. After all, Chu Zichen’s current success was entirely due to catching the big fish that was Gu Lingfeng. Without any strong backing, who in the entertainment industry would pay attention to a rookie like him?
After being scolded harshly by his agent and frozen out for several days, Chu Zichen no longer dared to act spoiled with Gu Lingfeng. He started humbling himself, acting coquettish and sweet to please the man.
Gu Lingfeng hadn’t really intended to throw Chu Zichen away. After all, Chu Zichen was young, had trained in dance, had a great figure and excellent flexibility, and he was open-minded in bed—Gu Lingfeng wasn’t tired of him yet. But youth came with its flaws—mainly a lack of tact and a tendency to act on impulse. So he needed to be reined in a bit.
When Su Ning found out that Gu Lingfeng had gone back to Chu Zichen again, he wasn’t surprised in the least. He knew very well that the reason Gu Lingfeng could be coaxed back wasn't because he liked Chu Zichen that much; just like how he could also walk away from him at any moment—it wasn't out of real anger.
It was just that Gu Lingfeng was used to being in control. Everyone had to play by his rules.
Whether he gave slack or pulled tight, the measuring line was always in his hands.
That night when Chu Zichen called, ranting and swearing at him, it didn’t even count as a blip on Su Ning’s radar. It was just another part of his job—calming the boss’s lovers down.
And this was nothing more than a very minor issue.
Su Ning received a call from Gu Lingfeng asking him to bring over a document that had been left at home. He didn’t dare delay. After retrieving the document, he drove straight to Gu Lingfeng’s office.
As Gu Lingfeng’s personal assistant in daily life rather than work, Su Ning didn’t come to the company often. Most of the time, it was for errands like this—delivering things or driving Gu Lingfeng to and from work.
The company staff weren’t unfamiliar with Su Ning. In fact, quite a few of them knew that Su Ning lived in Gu Lingfeng’s house and treated him like a kept golden canary. The title “assistant” was just a more polite label.
Su Ning didn’t care what others thought. Holding the document, he took the elevator straight to Gu Lingfeng’s office floor. When he arrived, he discovered that Gu Lingfeng wasn’t in. Someone else was waiting inside.
Su Ning froze for a moment. He’d always tried to avoid running into the boss’s fiancée, but still ended up bumping into her.
“Miss Su,” Su Ning greeted politely, glancing around the office. Not seeing Gu Lingfeng, he casually asked, “Is Mr. Gu not here?”
Su Weiwei was dressed in a light yellow floral dress, a diamond ring on her finger, sitting elegantly on the guest sofa in Gu Lingfeng’s office. When she saw Su Ning, a trace of disgust flashed in her eyes.
“Looks like you didn’t check ahead either—ran over here eagerly, only to find he was lured away by another little vixen.” Su Weiwei curled her red lips into a sneer, looking at Su Ning with contempt. “What kind of assistant are you—oh wait, I should say bed partner. After all, no assistant tends to their boss all the way to the bed, right?”
Su Ning had long grown numb to her sarcastic words and didn’t take them to heart. Most likely, Su Weiwei had come to have lunch with Gu Lingfeng but, like him, was met with disappointment.
Judging by her current reaction, Gu Lingfeng had probably been invited out by someone else.
And as for who that someone was—he didn’t even need to guess.
Su Ning ignored her words and calmly walked toward Gu Lingfeng’s desk.
His indifference only made Su Weiwei angrier. She lashed out with more complaints, revealing Gu Lingfeng’s whereabouts in the process.
To her, Su Ning was just an assistant—no different from a servant. What was he putting on airs for? She was the one who was truly a match for Gu Lingfeng, his proper fiancée.
“Seems like you’re useless. Can’t compete with that seductress surnamed Chu. You came all this way, and didn’t even know he’s out having lunch with that little vixen?”
Su Ning automatically tuned out the nasty parts and simply held up the document. “I’m just here to deliver something to Mr. Gu.”
Su Weiwei snorted. “Same role in bed, yet he gets whatever he wants with just a pout and a smile. Even lunch dates. You? You’re just a damn errand boy.”
She furrowed her brows, her tone full of frustration. “Su Ning, you’ve been with Lingfeng the longest. How come you can’t even keep his bed warm properly? Letting others steal him away again and again—what a joke.”
As the heiress of Lumu Real Estate, Su Weiwei and Gu Lingfeng were in a business engagement. But the moment she saw Gu Lingfeng for the first time, she fell in love with him. However, whether before or after the engagement, Gu Lingfeng never stopped having lovers.
In the beginning, Su Weiwei had tried to fight back. When she found out Gu Lingfeng was keeping a lover, she brought bodyguards and personally confronted the woman at a hotel, scratching her face. As a result, the engagement was nearly called off.
Later, under pressure from the elders—who insisted all men played around before marriage and would settle down afterward—Su Weiwei reluctantly accepted Gu Lingfeng’s revolving door of lovers. Besides, in every other aspect, Gu Lingfeng was outstanding—family background, looks, capability—unmatched among his peers.
And even though he never wore his engagement ring, nor brought Su Weiwei into his social circles, he would still accompany her on holidays and visit her family during important occasions. Her friends were envious, praising her for her good fortune. Even the elders said she had a good eye for choosing such an excellent future husband.
At such times, they conveniently ignored that this was merely a business marriage.
So although everyone knew Gu Lingfeng was a notorious playboy, they still envied Su Weiwei behind her back, even while mocking her.
Because no matter how many lovers he had, the only one who would eventually marry him was Su Weiwei.
This made Su Weiwei feel both proud and miserable. Every time she heard about Gu Lingfeng with another lover, she’d get angry but no longer dared to act recklessly. She couldn’t even openly interfere in his private life.
As a result, Su Ning—who was always by Gu Lingfeng’s side and occasionally warmed his bed—became her punching bag.
To her, it was like: “As the official wife, I can’t speak out. But you, a mere concubine, had better take good care of our shared man—and stop others from stealing him away. If you can’t, you’re failing your job.”
That was her mindset.
