MVDBD Chapter 7: Huo Yannian or Huo Nian-nian
“You touched my hand on purpose while eating. If he truly loved you, would he be that calm?” Jiang Xing stared at Xie Yan with certainty.
“Mr. Jiang, that was just an accident,” Xie Yan pulled his hand back, his mouth full of peach flesh, making his words a little unclear.
Afraid Jiang Xing might say something even more outrageous, Xie Yan hurriedly swallowed the fruit in his mouth.
“Yannian has always treated me well. He even calls me to check up on me while I'm just driving. He’s thoughtful during meals too. And anyway, can you even understand the fun between married couples? He was just secretly jealous. Why else would he purposely provoke you?” Xie Yan’s mind spun quickly, soon coming up with an excuse to fool Jiang Xing.
Thinking about it, Jiang Xing found it somewhat reasonable that Huo Yannian clung to Momo out of jealousy because Xie Yan was “seducing” him. Still…
“So if you know Huo Yannian is jealous, why are you still trying to seduce me? Don’t you know how ruthless he is?” Jiang Xing fixed his gaze on Xie Yan’s dewy lips. The air was tinged with the faint scent of peach. He wondered if those lips, damp with juice, would taste as sweet as the fruit.
Ruthless? Xie Yan didn’t know much about that—but he did know how ruthless Huo Yannian was with his legs. And when the hell did he seduce the male lead??
“Mo.o sees you as an older brother. If she knew you were trying to seduce me, would she still treat you the same? And do you really think Huo Yannian would let a traitor go? Be more careful from now on.” Jiang Xing glanced at the peach in Xie Yan’s hand, smacked Xie Yan’s arm, and the peach immediately dropped to the grass, rolling a bit and picking up dirt and leaves.
“???” I was just eating a peach, why am I suddenly guilty of seduction?
Xie Yan took back everything nice he’d ever said about Jiang Xing’s good looks. With this kind of brain, even the prettiest face was wasted.
Idiot, Xie Yan muttered, picked up the peach, and threw it into the trash. What a waste of a perfectly good fruit.
Outside, Han Momo had been walking around with Huo Yannian for quite a while before realizing her boyfriend hadn’t caught up.
Compared to Huo Yannian, she still liked Jiang Xing more. At least Jiang Xing was gentle. Huo Yannian was way too domineering—he’d get angry even if she said one sentence too many to another man.
“President Huo, thank you for your hospitality today. I think it’s time for Ah Xing and me to leave. Also, I never got to say this earlier, but I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me. If there’s a chance in the future, I’d love to work under you again.” Han Momo didn’t understand why Ah Xing was so scared. She’d clearly told him he was her favorite. Even if she stayed by President Huo’s side as a secretary, her heart wouldn’t change. But Ah Xing had still asked her to quit such a well-paying job. Just thinking about that made her feel wronged, and her eyes began to fill with tears again.
Looking at the teary-eyed Han Momo, Huo Yannian suddenly had a flash of Xie Yan’s timid yet stubborn face as he stared back at him.
“If you want to come back, Huo Corporation will always welcome you.” Huo Yannian pushed down the strange feeling in his chest and saw her off.
Now that the male and female leads were both gone, Xie Yan brought out a plate of freshly made egg tarts from the cook and sat on the sofa to enjoy them. He hadn’t eaten enough at dinner.
When Huo Yannian returned, the first thing he saw was Xie Yan lounging lazily on the sofa. He sneered.
“Hah, not hungry, huh?”
Xie Yan rolled his eyes, confident Huo Yannian couldn’t see his face.
Prompted by Xie Yan’s words, Huo Yannian glanced at the golden, crispy egg tarts on the table, and his stomach gave a tug. He hadn’t eaten enough either.
“I interrupted Jiang Xing and Han Momo’s date this afternoon. Then you kicked me twice tonight. I can’t even go upstairs now. I saw there’s a spare room on the first floor.
I’m sleeping there tonight.”
Xie Yan rolled up his pant leg to show a red mark on his shin. He’d actually hit himself—just to have an excuse to avoid sharing a bed with Huo Yannian.
“Well, I’m so sorry then,” Huo Yannian replied flatly, walking over and snatching the last egg tart from the plate.
“You… What are you doing?”
Suddenly, Xie Yan was lifted off the ground. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around Huo Yannian’s neck and struggled to get down.
“Didn’t you say your leg hurt and you couldn’t climb stairs? As an apology, I’ll carry you up.”
Huo Yannian didn’t seem strained at all. He cradled Xie Yan steadily and started up the stairs.
Xie Yan didn’t dare squirm too much on the staircase, afraid of falling if Huo Yannian lost his grip. His face flushed with anger, and he yelled, completely ignoring his image:
“Huo Yannian, put me down!”
“Huo Yannian!”
“…”
“Are you putting me down or not?”
“If you don’t, I’ll unleash my ultimate move!”
“Huo Nian-nian!!!”
