MWCBTC Chapter 5: Forced Kiss
Still half-asleep, Qiao Chen was woken up by a loud and urgent knocking at the door. The knocks were heavy and rapid, bang bang bang, each hit seemingly pounding directly on his heart.
Groggy from sleep, Qiao Chen’s head felt heavy as he got up and opened the bedroom door.
The moment the door swung open, before Qiao Chen could even react, he was slammed against the wall beside it. A fist came flying toward him.
He was about to be hit.
Qiao Chen instinctively shut his eyes.
But the expected pain never came. Instead, he heard a gust of wind and a dull thud of flesh hitting the wall.
Cautiously opening his eyes, the first thing he saw was Qin Shen’s furious face.
What’s wrong with him?
Before Qiao Chen could ask, Qin Shen spoke first, demanding, “Was marrying me not enough? You still dream of getting the same treatment as your brother?”
The abrupt words left Qiao Chen utterly confused. He had no idea what had happened, but he didn’t like what he was hearing.
He’d always known his place.
So, Qiao Chen lowered his gaze and stopped looking at Qin Shen.
This indifferent attitude only fueled Qin Shen’s rage.
The next second, Qin Shen reached out and grabbed Qiao Chen’s chin, forcing him to meet his eyes.
This face… was all too familiar.
Qiao Chen and Qiao Yu shared ninety percent of their looks—they were classic twins.
But anyone who interacted with them, even slightly, would never mistake one for the other.
Because while they looked alike, they were fundamentally different.
Qiao Yu’s face was always smiling, his eyes curved into crescents, like all things bright and beautiful revolved around him, uplifting everyone around him.
But Qiao Chen, true to his name, was quiet—silent even. His dark pupils were clear but bottomless.
One was fire, the other water.
If Qiao Yu was a red peony, then Qiao Chen was a white lotus.
Ha, what a “pure white lotus.”
Qin Shen sneered, his grip on Qiao Chen’s chin tightening as he mocked, “Good at pretending, huh? You even know how to complain now?”
Qiao Chen wasn’t stupid. That one sentence gave him a lot of information. Coupled with his understanding of his own parents, he quickly realized what must have happened.
So he asked, “Did my mom talk to you?”
The answer was obvious.
Qiao Chen added, “Today was the return visit after the wedding. I saw you were busy, so I didn’t tell you.”
It was a straightforward explanation, and also the truth.
But to Qin Shen, it sounded like lies and excuses.
“Keep pretending. I really want to see what kind of tricks you’ll pull today,” Qin Shen sneered.
There’s no point explaining yourself to someone who’s already made up their mind about you. It won’t help—only invite more humiliation.
So Qiao Chen shut his mouth and chose silence.
Qin Shen, already seething, grew even more furious at this passive reaction. Now you’re not even pretending anymore?
He was completely blinded by anger, and what he did next was utterly absurd.
Without warning, Qin Shen leaned down and kissed Qiao Chen.
The sudden act made Qiao Chen’s eyes go wide.
Finally, a reaction. Qin Shen curled his lips slightly in satisfaction, trying to pry Qiao Chen’s lips open with his tongue.
Qiao Chen had brushed his teeth and showered before bed, leaving behind a faint minty scent. Combined with that face, Qin Shen found himself momentarily lost in the sensation—it was surprisingly pleasant.
A few seconds later, Qiao Chen snapped back to his senses and shoved Qin Shen away with all his strength.
He stared at Qin Shen with a glare, his previously calm eyes now blazing with anger. His lips trembled as if he wanted to speak, but in the end, no words came out.
Instead, he grabbed his phone from the bedside table, turned around, and walked out.
Qin Shen stood frozen for nearly two minutes. Then he reached up and touched the corner of his mouth, looking almost surprised at his own actions.
But the fury in his chest… had eased slightly.
Meanwhile, Qiao Chen had already stepped out of the house with just a thin jacket. The cold autumn-winter breeze sent an involuntary shiver down his spine.
Unknowingly, winter was already approaching.
He walked along the edge of the villa community for a while, trying to calm himself down.
He didn’t know how long he’d been pacing. His legs eventually went numb, and he sat down on a public bench nearby.
He licked his lips and tasted a hint of blood.
Alarmed, he checked his reflection on his phone and saw a small cut at the corner of his mouth—it was bleeding.
The wound was small and had already started scabbing.
That was from earlier. Qin Shen had done it.
Qiao Chen lowered his gaze and raised his arm to wipe his lips harshly with the back of his hand, rubbing until the scab broke and the blood flowed again.
It was almost laughable—this had been his first kiss.
Twenty-four years old, and his first kiss was gone.
Not for lack of opportunity, but because his childhood at the Qiao house had been oppressive, and once he’d gone abroad, he threw himself into his studies with no time for love.
And now, without even falling in love, he was already married.
Life had taken a sharp detour.
Qiao Chen didn’t particularly care whether it was a first kiss or not—he was a grown man, after all. It wasn’t like a kiss would kill him.
But still, it felt… disgusting.
What had Qin Shen been thinking when he kissed him? Who had he imagined in his mind?
The more he thought about it, the more disturbed he felt. All the calm he’d tried to regain was now completely upended again.
Just then, his phone lit up.
It was a call from the Qiao family.
Qiao Chen hesitated for a moment before pressing the answer button.
His mother’s sharp voice came through the line: “Qiao Chen, why did it take you so long to answer?”
“Didn’t see it,” he replied.
“Oh. Did Qin Shen come back yet?” she asked.
Qiao Chen looked up at the villa. The light in Qin Shen’s room was still on.
“He’s back,” Qiao Chen answered.
“Did he say anything?” she asked again.
Yes, he said a lot—he even forcibly kissed me.
That’s what Qiao Chen thought, but what he said was: “No.”
“Alright, since he hasn’t said it yet, I’ll tell you. Tomorrow, you’ll probably go to the Qin house for dinner. Behave yourself. Don’t say anything unnecessary, do more and speak less. Got it?” his mother instructed.
Qiao Chen gave a simple “Mm.”
Because of Qiao Yu’s sudden disappearance, the whole wedding plan had been thrown into disarray. Although Qiao Chen had filled in at the last minute, the ceremony itself hadn’t happened—they’d simply registered the marriage in haste.
So tomorrow’s family visit would be Qiao Chen’s first official meeting with the Qin family as their daughter-in-law—a momentous occasion.
His mother droned on and on, repeating what to do and what not to do, trying to coach him into making a good impression on the in-laws.
She said so much that Qiao Chen barely absorbed any of it. He just answered on autopilot, “Mm,” “Okay.”
The call lasted nearly half an hour.
When it finally ended, Qiao Chen let out a breath of relief. Then he stood up and prepared to head back.
No matter how much he didn’t want to go back, no matter how much he didn’t want to see Qin Shen, he still had to return. One way or another, people have to face reality.
He only hoped Qin Shen had gone to sleep.
Unfortunately, luck never favored Qiao Chen.
Not only was Qin Shen still awake, he wasn’t even in his bedroom. He was sitting brazenly on the sofa in the living room, as if waiting for someone.
And he was—Qin Shen was indeed waiting for Qiao Chen.
He had already gone back to his room earlier, but then suddenly realized—where on earth had Qiao Chen gone in the middle of the night?
He sent a WeChat message—no reply.
Tried calling—then realized, he didn’t even have Qiao Chen’s number.
So he just sat there, waiting for him to come back. And then what?
Well, he didn’t know either.
When Qiao Chen opened the door and saw Qin Shen sitting on the sofa, he paused for a moment, surprised. Then, without saying anything, he tried to walk past him and head to his room.
It was Qin Shen who spoke first:
“Where did you go?”
Hearing that, Qiao Chen’s footsteps halted.
Where he went didn’t really have anything to do with Qin Shen, but he didn’t want to stir up trouble, so he replied:
“Just went for a walk.”
Great. That answer might as well have said nothing at all.
And as soon as Qin Shen asked the question, he regretted it.
What if Qiao Chen misunderstood and thought he cared?
So Qin Shen stood up, walked in front of Qiao Chen, and said coldly,
“As you wished. You’ve achieved your goal.”
Qiao Chen looked up, confused.
“Tomorrow, you’re coming home with me—to meet my parents,” Qin Shen said icily.
